Cement & specialist stain removal
In short
Cement slurry and concrete splatter can leave garage doors, cladding, joinery and glass looking permanently damaged. In suitable cases, specialist cleaning removes these deposits without repainting or replacing the surface. We remove construction residue from new and existing properties, choosing the method around the surface, its condition and the result you need.
Before you repaint or replace
Concrete placing, cutting and other building work can leave cement-based residue on nearby surfaces, and once dry it's hard to remove with ordinary washing. That doesn't mean the surface needs replacing. We've removed concrete deposits from painted garage doors, powder-coated aluminium and aluminium composite cladding, and we can tidy cement haze from glass. We assess whether specialist cleaning is a practical option before you consider anything more extensive.
Call us before you touch it
Don't try to clean it yourself. Scrubbing, rubbing or blasting can damage the surface and make recovery harder, and we've found the best thing to do is nothing until we've seen it. Call us as soon as you notice the contamination.
New builds and existing properties
This isn't only for handovers. A new path beside an existing building, driveway works near a garage or concrete cutting around a commercial property can leave slurry and splatter on the surfaces around it. We work with homeowners, builders, concrete contractors, property managers and insurance assessors.
What we can and can't remove
We remove cement slurry, concrete splatter and other cement-based deposits from painted, coated and architectural surfaces. We assess the material, its condition and any earlier cleaning attempts, and agree the scope and the expected result before we start. Cleaning can recover a contaminated surface. It can't reverse permanent etching, corrosion, scratches or damage to the coating.
For builders and insurance assessors
When contamination has led to a proposed repaint or replacement, specialist cleaning may be a practical alternative. We assess the affected areas and talk through the likely result, access and scope. Where it helps, a demonstration area establishes the result before we do the wider job, and any photos, reporting or documents you need can be agreed at the start.
Other stains we treat
Cement isn't the only staining we deal with. We also treat:
-
Calcium, sodium and manganese oxide staining
-
Iron oxide staining, such as rusty deposits on stone
-
Vanadium staining on brick
-
Kwila and other timber tannin stains
Stain removal is usually part of a wider clean and seal. Preparation is a big part of what we do, because the end result comes back to how well the surface is prepared and how the sealer is applied. Removing staining properly first means the protection that follows can do its job.
Local work and projects further afield
We're based in Wānaka and work across the Upper Clutha, and we consider selected specialist projects further afield. For enquiries outside our area we may do the work or put you in touch with an independent SiF approved applicator.
For contractors
If you're dealing with cement slurry or splatter on a customer's property, send photos and details of the surface. Product enquiries go to SiF Sealers NZ.
